it has been a good year for me so far and still looking for more. i am blessed to have so many people who support me in all the nonsense i have been doin.

for now christmas is coming and i am so damned with all the temptations i see around and just keeping myself busy and looking for the things i need. hopefully it works. unless there would be people who would sponsor all my wants.

life has been good and i am looking forward to meet more people and just keep me company.

just another post in the middle of the night, in the middle of all the rain, sleepy in my room, stranded in our house.

with the recent and ongoing disastrous event here in the philippines, specially here in the island of luzon due to heavy rains, i can’t help but be sad.

i want to help but we needed help ourselves.

i want to rant about many things i have seen and heard in line with these, but i won’t, it won’t make the headlines anyway.

all i can tell them: “DON’T SAY what you/they think is right or helpful, rather DO what  is right and help.”

words of wisdom: (if these makes sense) stay safe, keep safe, and ensure your safety!

Another round is done and another driver is crowned. Spanish grand prix was as exciting as the other F1 championship GP. Pastor Maldonado deserved his maiden championship win. Fernando Alonso made a run late in the race but can’t really catch up with Maldonado due to tire wear problem.

Kimi Raikkonen and the Lotus team had a really good pace but can’t catch up since the first laps. I really want him to win another championship and hopefully bring home another F1 crown.

Next round will be the ever famous street track of Monte Carlo, Monaco. Too bad for me, I won’t be able to see it live on screen but hopefully i’ll get updates online.

We were challenged with transporting a patient 287 kilometers point A to B. The foreign doctor joining us asked one of the smartest question I’ve heard. And it’s the first question they asked to us.

“Will the oxygen last during the transport?”

My answer?

First I’ll give an overview on how to check or compute if your oxygen tank/cylinder can last  during a transport.

Giving of oxygen to victims or patients is considered a medication in pre-hospital settings. Oxygenation is an essential part of patient assessment especially for those who are undergoing hypoxia (lack of oxygen in the body).

“Never withhold oxygen from any patient who may benefit from it, especially if you must assist ventilation.”

Getting straight to the point, here is the formula:

(remaining psi – 200 psi)  x  cylinder size constant
________________________________________    =    duration in minutes
liters per minute

For those who cannot understand the formula, here it is in layman’s term. Get the remaining PSI (pounds per square inch) – you may check on it on the gauge of the tank’s regulator – then subtract 200 PSI from it…

Why? 200 PSI is your ‘safe residual volume’.
What? When you have consumed the remaining length in minutes (answer to the formula) you will still have a remaining 200 PSI in your tank to work with, whether to change the tank or get to your destination.

…The answer to your PSI will be multiplied by a constant number depending on the size of the oxygen tank/cylinder. You may see the size of the tank embossed or engraved on the tank just below the valves…

Below are the constant numbers for each size.

D = 0.16
E = 0.28
M = 1.56
G = 2.41
A,H,K = 3.14

Troubleshooting for sizes

If you are not sure of the size of the tank, find time to ask your manufacturer or where you get your refill how much oxygen the tank is filled. Below are the sizes and amount of oxygen inside the tank.

D = 350 Liters
Super D = 500 Liters
E = 625 Liters
M = 3,500 Liters
G = 5,300 Liters
A,H,K = 6,900 Liters

…(Review: subtract 200 from your remaining psi then the answer is multiplied by the constant) The answer will be divided by the amount of oxygen that will be given to the patient…

…The final answer to all these process is the duration the tank will last in minutes. To convert it to hours, simply divide the final answer by 60 minutes.

That’s how simple it is.

Going back, my answer to the doctor?

I was checking the remaining PSI (1600) and assumed the smallest of the big tanks as the size, thus M, and we will be giving the patient 4 LPM of oxygen during the transport. Then quickly computed and got around 8.5 hours (i even subtracted 300 as my safe residual volume just to make sure). The travel will last for about 6-7 hours. Will the tank last?

I told the doctor, “Yes the oxygen tank can accommodate the transport and we still have a spare one if anything goes wrong.”

I’m quite back! Quite? I don’t really know when I’ll make another post like this one, but hopefully more to follow… anyway…

Excite – [verb] arouse or elicit a feeling; [verb] act as a stimulant; [verb] stir the feelings, emotions, or peace of… and many more definition and interpretation.

My life within a year hasn’t been more exciting as what I’ve expected it to be… Lots of people I’ve seen and met and all have been an inspiration to me and meaningful (good or bad)… More good experience than bad, It’s been an exciting ride this past year and I have grown for the better and still growing and learning the world at a really slow and late pace. (too bad for me). All’s well that ends well.

I’ve learned my lessons, and the best lesson learned: “Remember what other people will tell you (good or bad), and you’ll know how to deal with them later.”

Life in a year for me has been exciting, and lots of excitement behind that. Readers will just get bored if I list them out all.

Learnings, I get to learn more academically and grateful to my mentors and then happy with sharing what I’ve learned and experience.

Experience just tops it all and helping others has been (a passion?) great. Specially if you love what you’re doing.

Road trips, I’ve been to a lot of places and I don’t know how it happened. Thanks to all those who helped and more thanks to my mom who supported me with all nonsense, foolishness, and insanity I’ve done.

Food trips, I’ve eaten a lot and now I’m painstakingly and creeping to fit into one of my pants… damn, eating has just been my passion. Hopefully I’m still as fit as I was years back.

Lesson learned: “Treasure the memories of the past, Live the present like there’s no tomorrow, and let tomorrow be a mystery you’ll never know.”

The years ahead is still going for me and I’m happy with where I am now and a lot of hope with where I can and will be. Painstakingly waiting for a lot of opportunities for me and hopefully it won’t be too late for me. So much for my lazy bones.

I’m still excited to what’s in store for me but as I’ve learned, I’ll just let tomorrow be blank and today, must watch The Avengers!

I just wish to thank all those people who had been around me and I’m really grateful to all the experiences I had with them.

Lesson or rather food for thought: “Learn to work hard, and play harder. Chill, relax, and enjoy life. It will be fun, they said!”

Yes, I’m back and am alive. I haven’t been busy lately but I have discovered a lot of things.

First up, F1. 2009 season is over, Jenson Button is the World Champion and Brawn, Mercedes is the Constructors Champion. Congratulations to them. Next year will be another exciting year after the post season dramas and upcoming news around the F1 Championships. New teams were installed and 2 other teams were replaced. A lot of new drivers and driver switches. The most controversial will be McLaren for having 2 world champion drivers in their team. That would be a match-up to look forward to.

Movies, I know that movies are best seen in the big screen but sometimes if I’m just after the story, why bother paying a lot of cash and bother myself lining up with all the crowds in the movie house when I can just sit and relax at home and download them? I only choose which movies I’d watch in the movie houses and which ones I would download. Well anyway, these are just my rants about them.

New Moon. I have watched the movie in the big screen with some friends and yes, it was for free, since I wouldn’t normally watch those kind of films. It was disappointing for a lot of things and I am not writing this to criticize the movie. I just want to share my experience since after watching it, I felt that every man in the mall were running around half-naked and flaunting their bodies. LOL!

In my free time nowadays, anyway I’ve got a lot of it, I have been reading past books of Paulo Coelho. The first book that I read was ‘The Devil and Miss Prym’. The title and synopsis got me so curious that I bought the book right away and read it all day. It was good and somehow it is the only book that is different from the rest. I mean it doesn’t seem to talk much about witchcraft, angels and those stuffs. It just wanted to know if people are good or evil in nature.

I haven’t been influenced by his books yet but I am just amazed asking myself why he would be so into those witchcrafts, angels, and heavenly stuffs. Yet they are so moving and I have been thinking ‘what if’ I also go into those. I wouldn’t see myself doing those things in the future but ‘what if’? I have yet to read his latest book since I’ve got no money and hopefully someone will get it for me this Christmas and I would love that person so much. (Now I am wondering, what does my angel look like.)

Before I used to tell myself that I would not be seeing myself lifting heavy weights inside a gym, but now I am. I got into this gym stuff because I got so heavy after coming back from my trip to USA. It is my 11th month trying to lose all the fats in my body. I am back to my ideal weight but now I’m, not obsessed, but keen to see myself at least looking lean and not flabby to look at.

I have stopped for a while, maybe for 2 weeks because of my tonsillitis. I can still work out to fight my sickness but I can’t concentrate because of the continuous coughs I create, and it is embarrassing me.

Animation, animes and manga. I am still currently watching Bleach anime because of the good fillers they are currently showing. Other than that, I have basically been outdated with all the latest ones coming. But I have been reading good chapters of mangas namely Bleach, Naruto, Reborn!, Code Breaker, and Freezing. Good stuffs there.

These folks are just some of the things that have been keeping be busy in my boring life. Stay tuned for more boring actions and insights.

Next up, Christmas and New Year, and I know it will all be the same as the other holidays I’ve had. Happy Holidays to you all!

PS: My friend has a gig! Congrats. For all you guys living in the metro, Philippines, catch him live at Seafood Island, Trinoma Mall, Quezon City at 8 pm onwards. =D
